Course Description:
This course provides an introduction to Client Access/400 for Windows 95/NT. The course begins by describing how to access AS/400 and iSeries resources using Windows networking facilities. You will see how to access the OS/400 integrated file system as a network drive and an AS/400 or iSeries printer as a network printer. Next, the course introduces the facilities provided by Client Access for viewing OS/400 information and shows how to change your default view.

You will then see how to establish and terminate the connection between your PC and an AS/400 or iSeries host system. The course next describes the remaining services and functions provided by Client Access/400 and its various components. Finally, you will see how to obtain online directions for performing various tasks using Client Access/400 and how to obtain additional information on Client Access/400 screens.

After completing this course, you should be able to:
   •  Access the integrated file system as a network drive
   • Configure Client Access to perform automatic EBCDIC/ASCII conversion
   • Allow an AS/400 or iSeries system to be used as a printer server and a database server
   • Change the default view associated with an AS/400 or iSeries connection
   • Invoke PC5250, Graphical Access, or the Operations Navigator
   • Connect your PC to a host AS/400 or iSeries system
   • Create a desktop icon to represent an AS/400 or iSeries connection
