Course Description:
This course describes how to use the ILE source-level debugger to debug a program interactively. It shows how to set breakpoints (both unconditional and conditional), display the value of a variable, change the value of a variable, and step through a program one statement at a time. It covers all of the debugging functions provided by the debugger, both those implemented using debugging commands and those implemented using function keys.

After completing this course, you should be able to:
   • Define and use the terms related to the ILE source-level debugger
   • Name and describe the different debug views that can be generated
   • Start the ILE source-level debugger by placing your interactive job in debug mode
   • Set both unconditional and conditional breakpoints in a program
   • Display the current contents of a variable
   • Change the contents of a variable
   • Step through a program one statement at a time
   • Add programs to and remove programs from debug mode
   • Define and use abbreviations for a variable name, an expression, or a debug command

Audience: This course is intended for anyone who will be writing CL programs. This audience consists primarily of application programmers, but may include other people who use CL commands, such as system operators.

Prerequisites: This course assumes that you have a working knowledge of basic OS/400 concepts and facilities. You can satisfy this prerequisite by successfully completing the courses in the following series:
· Using an iSeries System

The course also assumes that you have a basic understanding of CL programming concepts, know how to declare and use variables in a CL program, and know how to control the flow of execution in a CL program. You can satisfy these prerequisites by successfully completing the earlier courses in this series:
· Introduction to CL Programming
· Variables and Built-In Functions
· Controlling Command and Program Flow
